From "The Origins of the Forest"

Forgotten treasures lie hidden
Great pow’r no longer in hand
Seeping down through the cracks,
through the seasons
Bound by the roots of this land

Gifted new life they awoken
To forge worlds and wonders anew
Spreading forth limbs of wood,
        vine and fungus
In them the sleeping pow’r grew

Now coveted by elm, ash and willow,
Oak, yew and others with no name
The pow’r forgets its old makers
And man must relinquish all claim

They say it turns beasts into monsters
Guardians of the new Forest who
You might find if you stray too deep there
Stray deeper and they will find you

Temptation will conquer all warnings
When treasures long lost are at stake
“Prepare yourself well and bring friends,”
        they say
Taking care of those you’d forsake

For the life of the Forest is untamed
Inflicting pain e’en as it cures
Legions of lost souls do roam there
Yet the pow’r still hungers for yours

At long last we stand at the entrance
With nothing but shadow ahead
A path to all possible futures,
        perhaps
With three watching over your thread

You think you arrive seeking fortune
Adventurer, budding or great
Alas it’s the pow’r that draws you
On your path through the Forest of Fate.
